I’ve debated about setting up a presence on Substack. I already have this beautiful blog created by a talented web developer. But I’ve watched many friends and writers that I greatly admire enter this space and enhance my life with their writing. I’ve decided to jump in. Things aren’t quite “pretty” there yet and I can’t figure out how to import my podcast. But any growth comes with growing pains. Instead of waiting for things to look right, I’m going to dive in and take the plunge.
I will be keeping my posts “free” for the foreseeable future. If you choose to subscribe, I appreciate your support for my writing. I hope it will be a blessing for you either way. In that space, I will be writing regularly about the things that bring me joy: entertainment, travel, cancer survivorship, personal productivity, spirituality, and all things Disney. I’ll do my best to respect your time by providing posts that are a value add or that challenge you to contemplate your own journey. That space is very much a work in progress, so I appreciate your patience as I figure out all of the buttons.
To begin, I thought I would share something from my journal that helped me to gain a bit of perspective on the past year. Matthew Kelly’s video is quick – about three minutes. But I spent significant time with the questions and will share a few of my responses (in brief) below.
7 Questions to Ask Before This Year Gets Away from You – Matthew Kelly
- Who and what are you most grateful for so far this this?
My response to this question was simple. Who: my husband Greg. What: my health! - What have you accomplished so far this year?
Some of my responses included transitioning from a long term career commitment, embarking on an epic 6 week road trip, resuming my speaking engagements, and completing a manuscript for a new book. - What have been your biggest distractions?
With no hesitation, I answered “social media scrolling” – I love being present and connecting with friends on social media, but I absolutely need to gain better control over the time I spend in those spaces in the year ahead. - What personal quality is most preventing you from accomplishing what you yearn to accomplish and becoming the person you yearn to be?
- Whom have you helped more than anybody else this year?
- What is taking up your time, effort, and mental energy that needs to be firmly placed on your NOT TO DO list?
- What truth are you refusing to face in your life?

Your Turn!
I’m a big believer in reflecting on the past so that I can hope for a better future. This includes not only looking at my personal habits, relationships, and work, but more importantly looking at my service to others. I have so much room to grow in the New Year. I hope that these seven questions (or even one or two of them) will bless you as you embark on all you hope for in 2025. Here’s to taking this journey together!
