I would love to come out and speak with your parish, school, group or organization – please feel free to contact me at lisahendey@gmail.com to discuss your special event.
A huge shout out of love and congratulations to my dear friends and fellow Faith & Family bloggers Danielle Bean and Rachel Balducci and their partner Carolee McGrath on the launch of their brand new television program on CatholicTV — The Gist! I was so blessed to appear on the premier episode of The Gist, where we chatted about the topic of “working moms” (and all moms are working moms!) and my new book, A Book of Saints for Catholic Moms. I’ll share the video of that first program below and I know that you are going to love The Gist as much as I do.
Editor’s Note: I’m indebted to my friends at Ave Maria Press for their wonderful support in helping me to “launch” my new book, A Book of Saints for Catholic Moms. During the weeks ahead, I’ll be “touring” cyberspace spreading the good news about the Communion of Saints and sharing about this book. If you’d like to participate in hosting a stop along the blog tour, please email me — I promise to be a good houseguest! Thanks to all who have supported A Book of Saints for Catholic Moms. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to me! Lisa
Lisa Hendey, entrepreneur, founder of CatholicMom.com, and sought-after new media expert, will begin her blog tour on Tuesday, October 18, as part of the launch of her newest book, A Book of Saints for Catholic Moms.
While this book tour exists in the blogosphere, Hendey’s family owns a real-life Volkswagen bus, and we wanted to include him in the festivities. He is named Arnold, after his original owner.
Hendey’s fans and friends are invited to follow her virtual travels as she is interviewed, reviewed, and offers guest posts on several popular blogs. Her schedule will be updated as posts are confirmed, and currently includes:
I want to send a big thank you to Aquinas & More Catholic Goods for their very fun contest offering readers a chance to win a free advance copy of my new book — A Book of Saints for Catholic Moms. Check out this fun video from Ian Rutherford and enter today for your chance to win!
A great big thank you to National Catholic Register reporter Barb Ernster for her kindness in mentioning CatholicMom.com and my work at St. Anthony of Padua in her recent article for the Register. You can read the article online here. To be quoted along with Fr. Robert Barron, Mary Kay Hoal, Matt Warner and other “wired” Catholics is a real honor.
I recently subscribed to the print edition of the Register and can’t wait to begin receiving it regularly in my mailbox! While I’ve been an online reader of the Register for years, a print subscription to the paper is a great way to support their mission and to send a strong signal that we need and will support great Catholic media. Congratulations to my friend and fellow Catholic blogger Brandon Vogt for the launch of the new Church and New Media Website and today’s release of the book trailer video for The Church and New Media. I am so happy to be one of the contributors for this book. Brandon has assembled an amazing team of writers who are on the cutting edge of using technology at the service of the Word. His work on this project is so inspirational, as not only has he created an amazing book and website, but also “100% of the royalties from the book will go toward establishing school computer labs throughout the Archdiocese of Mombasa, Kenya. In addition to providing computers, the kids will be trained in computer literacy skills – their ticket to the “digital continent”.”
Stay tuned for more information on the book, which will be released in early August, and please take a few moments to enjoy the book trailer video below.
A special thank you to Karen Jones and Publishers Weekly for sharing my comments in their recent article Can Mommy Bloggers Help Christian Children’s Book Sales? Also included in the piece are the insights of my friend and Ave Maria Press colleague Karey Circosta, who seems to agree with me that the trust we bloggers work to build with our readers truly does help them in their book buying selections.
A huge thanks to my friend and fellow Ave Maria Press author Heidi Schlumpf for featuring my work and advice on Catholic social media in her recent article for the National Catholic Reporter. Heidi references my recent webinar on the topic sponsored by Ave Maria Press and does a great job summarizing some helpful guidelines for parishes and ministries looking to become involved in using social media tools to communicate and to serve. Thanks Heidi!
I would like to thank my dear friend and fellow writer Roxane Salonen for including me in her recent articles for U.S. Catholic magazine. You’ll find me quoted in Roxane’s pieces entitled Come follow me: On faith and Facebook and One Tweet too many: Take a social media fast. In both articles, Roxane offers a terrific perspective on how Catholics are employing the latest digital technologies to share their faith. Thanks to Roxane for including me in her findings!
Every year, the Guild hosts two amazing conferences which provide a great opportunity for learning, friendship and networking. I will be participating in the August conference in Pennsylvania and would love to meet you there if you are a Guild member.
