I’ve had to look at the list at least ten times to personally confirm what it says – my name was one of the 150 selected to attend the upcoming Vatican Meeting for Bloggers. I’m tardy blogging about this, mostly because it still doesn’t feel like a reality.

When the initial invitation to apply for what’s commonly being referred to as the Vatican “Blogfest” came up, I decided to try for the opportunity. I’d been greatly wishing for a trip to Rome, primarily to attend the Beatification ceremonies for Servant of God Pope John Paul II. When the Pontifical Councils for Social Communications and Culture announced a joint meeting for Catholic bloggers, I applied, knowing that I would be one of literally hundreds hoping to attend this forum. I love speaking around the country at conferences and parishes, but honestly one of my favorite events is right here in my own backyard.  It is now time to register online for the upcoming Diocese of Fresno Congress.  Visit the Congress website here for news and information.  I will be giving two presentations – Unity in the Eucharist:  Becoming a Eucharistic Family and Pastoral Ministry in a Digital World.  Additionally, the Congress is situated in Visalia, quite near beautiful national parks in a lovely part of our state.  If you live in or near California, I hope you will join us for this wonderful event!

On Wednesday, March 10 I’ll be a part of a special team presenting a half day Clergy Communications Workshop for the priests of the Diocese of Fresno.  Our very forward-thinking Bishop has embraced Pope Benedict XVI’s  World Communications Day Message for this year and is providing this opportunity to assist the priests of our diocese with implementing technology strategies in their ministry.  The Fresno Bee shared information on this workshop in this recent article.  Please join me in praying for our priests and those who will join me in presenting this event.

This past weekend, I had the absolute honor of visiting with the parishioners of my fellow Diocese of Fresno parish St. Joachim’s in Madera, CA.  One of their priests, Fr. Rafael Lavilla, OSJ, kindly invited me to give the introductory remarks for their screening of The 13th Day: The True Story of Fatima. Fr. Rafael, an amazing young priest, struck upon the idea of presenting the film as a fundraiser for the parish’s wonderful Theology of the Body group. (more…)

In October of 2011, my new book A Book of Saints for Catholic Moms: 52 Companions for Your Heart, Mind, Body and Soul will be released by Ave Maria Press. I’m so excited to share this book and my love of our saintly companions and intercessors with you!

I’m honored to have the opportunity again this year to speak at the wonderful Diocese of Fresno Relgious Education Congress on October 10, 2009.  Last year’s Congress was so well attended that this year’s event is being held at the Visalia Convention Center.  I will be speaking on the topic ““Catholic Parenting: Fulfilling Our Baptismal Calling in Households of Faith”.  I hope to meet you in October!  Registration Information.
